This verse has come to mean a lot to me as I approach a major change in my married life. Recently, LML has taken a new job. This is something that we have prayed over for quite some time. We both have felt led to this job and feel that this job will allow him to best serve.
In fact, LML did not even apply the first time they posted this job. The second posting of this job was my "aha!" moment and I began to intensely encourage LML to apply.
While this job will be a blessing in that he will have control over his work and he will be doing what he loves, it does have it's downsides. It will take him out of town for most the week, every week. This is going to be a HUGE adjustment, since I will be staying at the house and taking caring of things at home.
The weekends are going to become more important, because it is going to be our time together. Granted, this also means it his time to complete tasks that he would otherwise intersperse throughout the week.
"Guard yourself in your spirit, and don’t break faith." (Malachi 2:16)
Therefore, I feel that I need to make a commitment to have faith in God and his plan. I need to understand that I cannot control everything. I also need to just believe that this job will lead to greater things for both LML and I.
I also need to commit to making LML a major priority each and every day. I need to make him feel loved and needed even if I do not get to see his face. I need to build him up so that every weekend, we are excited to see each other and not bringing home any frustrations from the week.
"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you." Philippians 4:8-9
I know that while this change is not ideal, it is not impossible.
