Oh where has the summer gone

I cannot believe that it is almost August already! This summer has disappeared quickly.


I made a quick trip to Little Rock back in June. The only thing I remember at this point was the fabulous drink I had one night at Capital Bar and Grill.

It was called Southern Comfortably and featured a pecan soda (It had vodka and not SOCO). This was my first pecan drink but I definitely enjoyed it. It was the perfect sipping drink that lasted me through appetizers and dinner. The mint julep cup definitely made the drink even more appetizing for my eyes. Love the cool condensation on the silver!

I am sure there would have been more to say had I been a good blogger and written you about my trip last month.

Houses in Atlanta

Just a quick post of two houses we found while driving around the Buckhead area of Atlanta!

Brunch in Atlanta

Before we headed back towards Bama on Sunday, my SIL, MIL and my self hit up Urban Pl8.  This place exceeded expectations (and not to mention showed me where all the fabric stores are located in Atlanta).  I highly recommend this place for you to try if you are in Atlanta, especially if you or someone in your party is on a gluten free diet.

It does not hurt that they have bottomless mimosas for $12.

My SIL and I both ordered delicious grilled chicken pesto omelette with goat cheese and roasted red pepper.  It was so delicious and was devoured quickly!  The sweet potato hash was good also!

My MIL ordered their Greek chicken omelette, but I failed to take a picture of it.

The kicker was the waitress brought the bill and we noticed we ate for $22 plus tip.  We asked the waitress about the price because we did not believe that could be correct.  She informed us that she applied this discount for scoutmob.

After I googled scoutmob, I discovered it was a discount app for iphone currently only located in select cities.  If you live in Atlanta or any of their other cities, I highly recommend checking it out!  (They have email for those not with tech savy phones!)

Out for Dinner

While in Atlanta, my SIL, MIL and myself went to eat at Wisteria Restaurant in the Virginia Highlands area of Atlanta.  It was chosen due to their multiple gluten-free items for my MIL to choose her dinner.

This Arugula, grilled apple, fried onions and pecan vinaigrette was delicious.  My SIL and I both enjoyed this meal

My MIL's gluten free trout with fingerling potatoes, green beans, corn and tomatoes drizzled with a vinaigrette.

Overall the meal was delicious and we would definitely recommend it to anyone on a gluten free diet or not!

Scotts, Pt 4

I found three architectural facade prints that I love!  I cannot wait to frame them and find a place for them in my house.  I have wanted some for quite a long time but finally the price is right!

I also found this pretty sterling silver napkin ring to add to my collection.  I love having a lot of random napkin rings and use them when I have people over for dinner!

My sister-in-law found this fabric for a good deal.  I think she wants to recover a chair with it.

I saw a few things that gave me ideas for future and stuff that I would have bought if I was in a different place financially! One day, I will replace my dining room furniture!

Scotts, Pt 2 (Sewing Sundays Edition!)

One of my favorite things to browse at antique shows and such is linens.  I love to see their monograms and Scott's did not disappoint!

I thought the following monograms were spectacular!  I am working on hand monogramming and would love to do linens with one like the first one below!

Scotts, Pt 1

This weekend my SIL, MIL and myself all went to Hotlanta to browse at Scott's Antique Market.

None of us had ever attended previously, so we were all pretty excited.  (If you do not realize, Scott's is a huge market in two buildings that houses about 3000 different vendors.)

We got up early on Saturday morning and drove over from Alabama to arrive around 10 AM.  I found a few good deals, but more than anything it was nice to just view all of the antiques.

I  had a great time and would love to go back when I have a better budget!

Just a quick recap of out weekend in New Orleans. 

LML had a meeting immediately upon arriving in the city, so off I went wandering to locate me some grub.  (We were running late so no time to stop and get lunch on the way.)

I know that plate may not look appetizing, but that was the best MOLE enchiladas and refried beans that I have ever eaten.  The sweet and saltiness of the two combined made for a Delicious lunch.  Too bad, I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture before attacking the plate. (I cannot remember the name but it was located at Julia and Tchoupitoulas street.)

LML and I met up after his meeting and preceded to wander all over the french quarter before stopping for dinner at Bacco.   We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Saturday, LML and I woke up fairly early for us and began to wander the city.  We ate lunch at Mother's.  It was his first trip to this place, and I think he enjoyed it.

After lunch, we went to the WWII museum.  I highly recommend anyone who has the time to check it out.  I enjoyed the exhibit, just wish we had gone on a weekday when it would not be so crowded.

Following the museum, we wandered again before going to casino for my husband.  Have I mentioned how much LML adores a buffet.  I am definitely not a buffet type of gal, but I tried to put on my big girl britches (literally and figuratively) and not complain.  

We had a good time people watching at the casino.  We saw one girl run into her grandparents unexpectedly and introducing them to her boyfriend for the first time.  All I gotta say is, that is not something I would enjoy.

After the casino, we walked around the town again (can you catch the theme of the weekend yet?).  I do love to walk places.  It was one of my favorite aspects of Charleston.  We saw the leprechaun below and I could not pass up a chance to show you where the pot of gold might be located.  

And what trip to New Orleans is complete without a stop at Cafe du Monde.  LML and I split an order of beignets which I dipped in my Cafe au Lait.  What a great way to cap off a long day before going to bed.

We got early the next morning and went to church at the St. Louis Cathedral.  It was a wonderful service with a magnificent organist.  I loved the music.
After Church, we ate brunch at Court of Two Sisters for their Jazz Brunch Buffet.  While I previously stated that I do not like buffets, I will make an exception for this one.  They have pate for goodness sakes.  I love their eggs benedict and their creamed spinach (not a fan of most creamed spinach dishes).

It was wonderful weekend, but LML and I were both ready to head home.  We have some exciting things going on in our life!  I cannot wait to share them with you soon!
